2018 Don Pedersen Research Grants Webinar
The Don Pedersen Research Grants program is intended to foster early career PA faculty development through research — about both PA education and workforce issues — that is aligned with PAEA’s strategic goals. Each year, the PAEA Grants and Scholarships Review Committee awards grants of up to $7,000 each, with a total possible allotment of $21,000.
This year, we’re making sure that early career and new researchers are awarded Don Pedersen Research Grants by giving preference in our scoring to new researcher principal investigators who have not previously received PAEA research grant awards, as well as to early career principal investigators who partner with experienced co-principal investigators. We’re also offering support to applicants in two new ways.
First, we are hosting a webinar to provide an overview of the Don Pedersen Research Grant and application process on June 11 at 2:00 p.m. ET. PAEA Grants and Scholarship Review Committee Chair Trent Honda, PhD, MMS, PA-C; Research Mission Advancement Commission Chair Rick Dehn, MPA, PA-C, and Research Director Donovan Lessard, MA, will discuss topics including:
- Relevant research topics
- Proposal formatting
- Evaluation criteria
- Preferences and additional points awarded
- Common pitfalls
- Problems and considerations for proposed budgets
A Q&A period will then give attendees the opportunity to ask questions of the presenters. If you’re interested, please register for the webinar via GoToMeeting.
Second, we have several members of the PAEA Research Mission Advancement Commission and Grants and Scholarships Review Committee on standby to set up a phone call or participate in an email discussion to answer any questions you might have.
If you’re an applicant who would like advice about your proposal from an expert, please send an email to us at research@PAEAonline.org with “Don Pedersen Consultation” in the subject line, and PAEA staff will connect you with one of the experts.
We will begin accepting applications on Wednesday, June 13. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, August 22. Please visit the call for proposals webpage for more details about how to apply.
