PAEA conducts several annual research initiatives and surveys of member programs, faculty, and students. Our goals are to learn more about the issues facing PA education and the profession, to support PA programs and decision-makers with the best data, and to empower PA researchers. The data we collect are also available to members for use in benchmarking, self-studies, and research.

Program Survey and Reports

PAEA’s longest-running research endeavor collects information about program operations, program and student financial information, student and faculty characteristics, and more.

Faculty & Directors Survey and Reports

This report informs the association and our member programs about employment trends that may affect recruitment and retention of PA faculty and directors.

Curriculum Survey and Reports

This survey is administered in three parts that rotate annually and correspond to the major phases of PA school: the prerequisites/admissions phase, the didactic phase, and the clinical phase.

Student Survey and Reports

This survey collects rich data from matriculating and graduating students to learn more about reasons for choosing the profession, satisfaction with programs, future practice plans, and more.

In addition to publishing regular survey data reports, the PAEA Research Department periodically publishes articles in peer-reviewed outlets and reports focused on specific issues of interest.
