PAEA Board Q3 Update: Evolving to Meet the Needs of a Growing Profession

The PAEA Board of Directors convened its third-quarter meeting at PAEA headquarters in Washington, DC, marking another milestone in the association’s ongoing efforts to evolve in step with a rapidly growing profession.

As the PA landscape continues to expand, with new programs launching, existing ones evolving, and the diversity of institutional settings increasing, PAEA must position itself to serve the full breadth of its membership more effectively. Our members represent programs at every stage of development, in every type of institution, and with varying needs. To keep pace, PAEA is undertaking a series of deliberate, forward-looking changes to strengthen our strategic and operational foundation.

Building the Framework for PAEA’s Next Chapter

At the Q3 meeting, the Board took decisive steps to realign PAEA’s governance and strategy with the realities of today’s educational environment. Central to this work was the formal adoption of a new mission, vision, values, and set of strategic goals. These statements do more than define who we are – they provide a durable framework to guide decision-making, prioritize resources, and clarify our role in advancing PA education.

Equally important, the Board completed a comprehensive review and update of the association’s policies and procedures manual. This modernization aligns PAEA’s internal operations with current best practices and lays the groundwork for greater organizational agility and transparency.

For members, this means a stronger and more responsive association – one that can deliver more timely, tailored support as your program’s needs evolve. Whether you’re seeking leadership opportunities, policy clarity, or targeted resources, these changes are designed to make your experiences with PAEA more relevant, efficient, and impactful.

Elevating Support for Accreditation

In response to consistent member feedback identifying accreditation support as a critical priority, the Board also reviewed progress on PAEA’s “Voices of PA Education: Accreditation” initiative. This series of focused listening sessions, launched earlier this year, brings together programs with shared experiences to discuss challenges and successes. Insights from these sessions are already informing how PAEA can better support members through the accreditation process, ensuring our services are grounded in the real experiences of our members.

This effort is a direct example of how member feedback is shaping the association’s work in real time, translating shared challenges into collective solutions. You spoke, we listened, and now we’re acting.

Policy and Advocacy Update

Finally, the Board received updates on federal policy developments to inform PAEA’s advocacy strategy. As the national policy environment continues to evolve, PAEA remains committed to ensuring that the voice of PA education is heard and that our members’ interests are well represented.

For programs navigating a shifting regulatory and funding environment, this work means your voice is represented in the conversations that matter.

Shaping Policy for the Future of PA Education

Looking Ahead: What This Means for You

As PAEA enters its next phase of growth, members will see the tangible effects of these strategic and operational updates: a more agile organization, more insightful support, and clearer connections between your feedback and PAEA’s actions.

We look forward to sharing more details about these initiatives in the weeks ahead. Together, we are building a stronger, more adaptive association that continues to serve as the professional home for everyone in PA education.
