Introducing PAEA Wellness Month

For the past year, PA programs and their faculty have been operating at surge capacity. We have been forced us to quickly and continually pivot our work. The pandemic, accompanied by the magnification health disparities, a turbulent election season, and a long overdue awakening surrounding systemic racism in our nation, has been undeniably stressful. PAs and PA educators have been at the forefront of these historic moments, guiding students, caring for patients, and collaborating with colleagues to create a brighter future.
Throughout the past year, many of us have sacrificed our own well-being. Working from home – in many respects – has become living at work. Self-care is critical, not just to preserve our own mental, emotional, and physical well-being but to also allow us to support our students who are also struggling to adapt in this virtual environment.
Listen to a message on the importance of intentional self-care from PAEA President, Michel Statler, below.
Introducing PAEA's Focus on Wellness
The comments received in PAEA’s second Rapid Response Report identified a need for faculty wellness opportunities. Developing resources to meet our members’ needs is central to PAEA’s work. Therefore, we are excited to launch a month-long focus on wellness. Throughout the month, PAEA will offer practicable ideas and resources to help you prioritize wellbeing. You are worthy of wellness, and we believe the health and wellbeing of patients, programs, and communities starts with you.
