Free SCOPE of Pain Webinar in December
On December 14 or 15, join the FDA for a free webinar on pain management as it relates to the opioid epidemic.
One of the leading factors contributing to the rising incidence of opioid use disorder on a national scale is the excessive prescribing of opioid pain relievers to treat patients with chronic pain conditions. In response, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is committed to advancing better practices for pain management as part of a multidimensional approach to eradicate the threat of opioid addiction.
With funding from the pharmaceutical industry, the FDA mandated the development of a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy to create learning opportunities for clinicians who care for patients with chronic pain. These opportunities provide insight into implementing best practices designed to mitigate the risks associated with administering opioid treatment.
That’s why Daniel Alford, MD, MPH, course director for Boston University School of Medicine’s SCOPE of Pain program, is offering his expertise in addressing practice challenges in treating chronic pain by hosting two free live webinar sessions in December. During the webinars, participating physicians, PAs, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and pharmacists will have the opportunity to ask questions and develop valuable knowledge and tools for responsible pain management.
If you would like to continue your medical education by gaining practical knowledge in palliative care, be sure to sign-up!
Interested parties may register for the webinar on either Friday, December 14 from 3:30–6:00 p.m. ET or Saturday, December 15 from 9:00–11:30 a.m. ET.
