3 Things to Know about the Upcoming Board of Directors Election

More members than usual have thrown their hat into the ring for the 2016 Board of Directors. And — new this year — we are making it easier than ever for you to learn all about them. It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3.

1. Read about the Candidates

There are five open positions on the 2016 PAEA Board of Directors: president elect, treasurer, and three directors at large. This year’s robust slate of candidates includes:

President Elect – William Kohlhepp

Treasurer – Carl Garrubba

Director at Large –    Shalon Buchs

Kara Caruthers

Michelle DiBaise

Jenny Kluznik

Kevin Schuer

Michel Statler

In their own words, each of the candidates’ platform statements explains who they are, what they believe they can contribute, and why they want to represent you. Be sure to read them.

Learn more in September when the candidates’ responses to questions posed to them about current PA education hot topics will be posted online. This information will also be available on the candidates’ posters at the 2015 Education Forum in Washington, D.C.

 2. Meet the Candidates Go to the Candidate Q&A

New this year at the Education Forum, attendees will be able to interact with candidates in a more relaxed and intimate environment. A candidate roundtable session on Friday, November 13, at 10:00 a.m., will give members a chance to directly ask questions of each candidate in a small group setting. The option to rotate to different tables will offer attendees the opportunity to interact with potential future leaders of PAEA. Don’t miss this chance to hear how the candidates would approach the important issues currently facing PA education.

 3. Program Directors – Remember to Vote!

Directors from member programs will vote at the Education Forum on Saturday, November 14. Results of the election will be announced at the business meeting later that afternoon. Then be sure to come to the closing reception that evening to congratulate your new 2016 Board of Directors.
