We’re Hiring: Part-Time Assessment & Evaluation Specialist

PAEA invites applications from the PA education community for its Assessment & Evaluation Specialist position.

We’re seeking a PA educator to fill this part-time position (0.5 FTE). The Assessment & Evaluation Specialist works with the Assessment team to advance and operationalize PAEA’s strategic plan in the areas of assessment and evaluation. The specialist will provide content expertise in the development, refinement, and maintenance of the Association’s assessment and evaluation resources.

This is a remote position with some travel required (for example, you may be asked to attend the annual PAEA Education Forum or other meetings and conferences, which will be negotiated year-by-year).

Primary Responsibilities

Educational resource development

As noted above, the specialist will play a key role in the development, refinement, and maintenance of the Association’s assessment and evaluation resources. For this part of the role, applicants need expertise in the maintenance and enhancement of current assessment products as well as the development of new assessment products.

The specialist will assist PAEA’s volunteers on the Assessment Council, Exam Development Boards, and other assessment-related workgroups to fully execute their charges.

Environmental scanning

The specialist will need to make a concerted effort to stay current on concepts, practices, and procedures related to assessment. To that end, part of this job will involve environmental scanning to inform assessment and evaluation decisions.

Professional and organizational development in the area of assessment

The specialist will also participate in disseminating work and best practices in the assessment area — via publications, presentations, and workshops — to the PA and MedED worlds.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a PA educator (particularly in the assessment area) and knowledge of the PA studies field
  • Proven ability to innovate, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • A capacity for evidence-based decision making

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. (Note: Compensation may be provided directly to an individual or paid through an institution, the structure is flexible.) To apply, please email the following to Lynn Heitzman at lheitzman@PAEAonline.org:

  • A cover letter that includes relevant experience and motivation for application
