Introducing the New Board Nominating Committee: Strengthening the Path to Leadership
As PAEA grows and evolves, so too must our governance structures and processes. One of the most important duties of the Board of Directors is ensuring consistent and capable leadership. That’s why the Board is pleased to announce the formation of a Nominating Committee, an important step toward a more strategic, representative, and forward-looking election process.
Through a transparent and rigorous process, the Nominating Committee will strengthen our organization by:
- Aligning Board nominations with the strategic needs of the Association
- Enhancing clarity, consistency, and fairness in candidate evaluation
- Supporting a diverse and highly skilled Board of Directors
- Evaluating leadership qualities, lived experience, and mission alignment
- Increasing our capacity to lead in a complex and evolving landscape
- Identifying and developing future PAEA leaders
How It Works
All members may continue to nominate themselves—this important element of our democratic process remains unchanged.
The Ethics Committee will review all applications for eligibility and conflict of interest.
The Nominating Committee will assess candidates against five key competencies:
- Strategic and Organizational Alignment
- Leadership and Governance
- Ethical Integrity
- Financial and Operational Competency
- Higher Education and Accreditation Experience
After thorough evaluation, the Nominating Committee will present one or more qualified candidates to the Board of Directors for approval, ensuring each nominee meets our high standards for leadership excellence and strategic alignment. The membership will vote on the approved slate of candidates during the Board election, which will take place September 9-10, 2025.
The Nominating Committee’s work extends beyond the election cycle. Through ongoing outreach and mentorship, the group will cultivate emerging talent and create pathways for members to grow into leadership roles. This proactive approach ensures PAEA continues to benefit from fresh perspectives and strong leadership.
What to Expect Next
