PAEA Seeks Nominees for HRSA Committees
PAEA is soliciting applications from candidates interested in being nominated to one of the Health Workforce Advisory Committees for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Specifically, PAEA plans to submit nominations for the following committees:
Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry (ACTPCMD)
Members of the ACTPCMD are required to offer guidance to the secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) on the administration of Title VII health workforce programs, with specific emphasis on the Primary Care Training and Enhancement program. Members are expected to meet at least twice each year and will be appointed for a three-year term. The most qualified candidates will have prior experience in applying for and implementing a Title VII grant, preferably as a principal investigator.
Advisory Committee on Interdisciplinary, Community-Based Linkages (ACICBL)
The ACICBL is tasked with providing advice and recommendations to the secretary of HHS on programs authorized under Title VII, Part D, of the Public Health Service Act. Notably, this includes the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) program. Members of the ACICBL are expected to meet three times each year and will be appointed for a three-year term. Qualified candidates will be expected to demonstrate significant interactions with an Area Health Education Center (AHEC).
National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice (NACNEP)
The NACNEP provides recommendations to both the secretary of HHS and Congress on the administration of Title VIII nursing workforce development programs. Members of the NACNEP are expected to meet twice each year and will be appointed for a four-year term. Qualified candidates will be expected to have a nursing degree and experience in addition to being a PA.
National Advisory Council on the National Health Service Corps (NACNHSC)
The NACNHSC advises the secretary of HHS and administrator of the Bureau of Health Workforce on the administration of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC). Members of the NACNHSC are expected to meet up to four times each year and will be appointed for a three-year term. The most qualified candidates will have received loan repayment in exchange for serving in the NHSC or will have been an NHSC Scholar.
For each of these opportunities, ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in federal health workforce policy
- Prior experience as a PA program director and/or clinical coordinator
- Significant PA education leadership experience
