PAEA Seeks ARC-PA Commissioner Candidates
Are you a leader in PA education who is looking to have an impact on education at the national level? PAEA is seeking qualified nominees to advance to the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) for an open commissioner position.
Service as an ARC-PA commissioner provides PA educators with the opportunity to be involved in the national dialogue around accreditation and program quality. Ideal nominees will have a demonstrated commitment to, and relevant experience in, the PA profession and PA education, as well as a solid understanding of the role of accreditation in educational excellence. Prior leadership experience on an organizational board and demonstrated influential leadership is beneficial, as is ability to think and plan strategically and long term.
In addition, PAEA is seeking individuals who:
- Can think generatively, using evidence-informed approaches
- Understand the broad health care landscape and the continuum of education
- Have had prior leadership experience with PAEA and understands the relationship between PAEA and the ARC-PA
The new commissioner will be selected by the ARC-PA from the slate of two or three candidates nominated by PAEA and will serve an initial three-year term, from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2022. They also will be eligible for a second consecutive three-year term.
Before applying, please review information from the ARC-PA on the role and responsibilities of this position. It would also be advisable to be familiar with PAEA’s position on outcomes-based accreditation, outlined in this task force briefing paper.
To apply for the position, please email a letter describing your interest in and qualifications for the position along with a current, abbreviated CV to Steven Lane at slane@PAEAonline.org by Friday, July 26, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Candidates who advance to the interview phase will need to be available for a phone interview in early August for final selection.
