National Faculty Development Training Program

The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education will deliver trainings for teams of interprofessional education and practice professionals through the new T3 National Faculty Development Training Program. Six in-person workshops will be offered annually in 2016, 2017, and beyond.

The program aims to strengthen the skills and capabilities of interprofessional education and collaborative practice teams and accelerate their progress toward shared goals. The training will prepare attendees to lead IPE and collaborative practice efforts at their home institutions. The curriculum was developed by experts from universities with established IPE training programs and is guided by a national advisory committee.

The 3.5-day sessions, offered at three university sites twice per year, focus on experiential learning. Pre-work is required and teams will implement a project at their home institution. Quarterly coaching webinars will be provided for one year by T3 faculty to assist teams in completing their projects. Workshop format and curriculum topics are the same at each site and include:

  • Leading change
  • Providing and receiving feedback
  • Improving team communication and teamwork
  • Facilitating IPE challenges and difficult conversations
  • Addressing cultural competence and implicit bias
  • Designing, implementing, and evaluating IPE cases, curriculum, programs
  • Assessing learning outcomes across the learning continuum
  • Developing IPE leaders and scholars

Teams of faculty members (educators, clinicians, administrators, and researchers) with experience in developing and implementing IPE or team-based practice are invited to attend. Registration is open to interprofessional education and collaborative practice teams with a minimum of three members. The cost is $1,995 per person.
