Introducing the Health Professions to the Next Generation
PAEA is proud to be involved in the second annual Health Professions Week (HPW), scheduled for November 6–10. This is a great chance to engage young people in learning more about the opportunities available through a career as a PA, and we invite you to participate.
HPW is a first-of-its-kind, interprofessional, virtual recruitment event that boasts an exciting week-long series of activities — mostly online — for high school and college students interested in learning more about careers in the health professions. It’s completely free for students, counselors, parents, and advisors.
The event is intended to increase awareness of the 20 participating health professions and is inspired by a vision of collaborative practice being key to safe, high-quality, accessible, inclusive, and patient-centered care. In the inaugural 2016 event, more than 4,000 students from across the US joined in the virtual fairs, online treasure hunts, interview days, and community connect days. This year, we anticipate a 50 percent increase in attendance.
We’re currently working with staff from the other 19 health professions organizations to coordinate and plan the event. More details on how you can get involved will be shared in the next few weeks, so please stay tuned! We need your help to make this event a success.
We look forward to working with you and our sister professions to strengthen the pipeline for the PA profession. If you already know you’d like to participate or if you’d like more information, please contact Danielle Di Silvestro, director of member & community engagement at ddisilvestro@PAEAonline.org.
