Interested in Student Leadership Development? Join PAEA’s Spring Advocacy Trip!

Following a successful pilot expansion last spring, PAEA is once again soliciting programs to participate in its 2020 student Spring Advocacy Trip, which will take place March 17–18 in Washington, DC.

During this unique two-day experience, students will take part in advocacy and policy training sessions conducted by PAEA’s Government Relations team followed by tours of Capitol Hill and the Supreme Court. The experience will culminate with meetings with congressional offices and an evening networking reception.

Reflecting on this experience, one University of Southern California student said, “I learned how to advocate — not only for my profession, but for my patients and myself. Although the law-making process is lengthy and tedious, I continue to embrace the concept that one person can make an impact. My classmates and I have benefited from those who have advocated before us, and walking through the buildings of Capitol Hill, I could not help but be inspired to take a more active role.”

While participating students are responsible for coordinating their own lodging accommodations and travel arrangements, PAEA staff will handle all arrangements related to the advocacy training, Capitol and Supreme Court tours, and congressional meeting activities. Beyond lodging and travel, PAEA will bills participating programs for the cost of Association-provided meals and the use of training facilities on a per-attendee basis (typically $90 per student).

Programs interested in participating in the 2020 Spring Advocacy Trip should contact Tyler Smith at tsmith@PAEAonline.org by November 15 for more information.
