Help Increase Diversity of PA Students
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) recently announced that this year’s Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP) will be launching an Interprofessional Pilot, expanding participation to include PA programs.
In the announcement, RWJF said:
“This new approach supports the Foundation’s commitment to build a national Culture of Health and to promote interprofessional collaboration. Applicants should include: 1) a school of medicine; 2) a school of dentistry; and 3) at least one other health profession program/school from the Interprofessional Education Collaborative. All accredited medical and dental schools are eligible to apply, along with an accredited health professions school.”
The SMDEP is a free summer enrichment program designed to strengthen academic proficiency and provide career development opportunities for rising sophomore and junior college students interested in pursuing a health care career, with the ultimate goal of increasing the economic, cultural, and geographic diversity of health care students.
