Calling All Health Equity Ambassadors – CLOSED
The George Washington University and The Atlantic Philanthropies have teamed up to offer a new fellowship program for early to mid-career health professionals interested in disparities.
Leaders for Health Equity was created to “develop global leaders who understand the foundations of health inequity and have the knowledge, skills, and courage to build more equitable health systems and organizations.”
The fellowship will be centered around four key elements and objectives:
- Know Disparities: Build comprehensive knowledge of fundamental issues related to health disparities and inequity of opportunity in the health workforce.
- Combat Inequity: Develop and apply strategic interventions to address inequities in health and health career opportunities that confront organizations, communities, and societies.
- Build Leaders: Strengthen and leverage individual leadership skills to enhance personal effectiveness creating change in institutions, organizations, and communities.
- Create a Network: Catalyze the growth of an international network of leaders, working in a broad array of institutions, committed to health equity in those institutions and the society beyond.
Fellows will be selected in October — 10 from the United States and five from around the world. In 2017, they will convene in-person three times — twice in Washington, D.C., and once in Butaro, Rwanda — as well as hold discussions online throughout the year.
Applications are now being accepted and due by August 15. For more information, check out the Fellowships website and informational flyer.
