We’re Running Out of Offices — And That’s Good News!
PAEA is happy to welcome its three newest staff members to the team! Nikki started here in April, while Ramona and Tyler will be coming on board June 5. Please join us in giving them a warm welcome!
Dominique (Nikki) Frias
In her new role as an administrative associate for research, Nikki assists with the organization and analysis of the data PAEA collects, with building and updating our various surveys, and performing numerous other administrative tasks for the research team.
She is a 2016 psychology graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. During college, she interned for a pediatric health psychology laboratory, which fueled her love for research. She was also heavily involved with the Filipino American student cultural organization at VCU, as well as the Filipino American communities of Richmond and Virginia Beach.
“These experiences, in partnership with my interests in the social sciences, helped to develop my post-graduate goals in research for diversity and inclusion,” she said. “Because of this, PAEA has been a great fit, and I am extremely lucky to be working with such a great team of people!”
Outside the office, Nikki enjoys traveling, trying out new restaurants, shopping, watching Netflix, and spending time with her friends, family, and pet rabbit, Fufu.
Glad you’re here, Nikki!
Ramona Joyner
Ramona is joining the PAEA team as an administrative associate on our Member & Community Engagement team. Her background is in administration across government, nonprofit, and for-profit organizations, with a focus on membership, database management, senior leadership support, and procurement.
In her new role, Ramona will be working with the CASPA team and assisting the rest of the Member & Community Engagement team with programs and projects as needed.
In her spare time, Ramona enjoys spending time with family and friends, including being an assistant cheerleading coach for her daughter’s team and a loyal football mom. She is also currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunities for partnership and to allow my innovativeness to shine,” she said.
We’re happy to have you, Ramona!
Tyler Smith
Tyler is a recent graduate of The George Washington University (GW) with a bachelor’s degree in political science. His interest in health care was piqued when he joined the Student Global AIDS Campaign at GW and subsequently interned with the AIDS Institute, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Senator Ron Wyden’s office, and Horizon Government Affairs.
In his new role as an administrative associate, he will be working to ensure that the operations of the Government Relations team proceed efficiently by preparing for department meetings, providing administrative support for volunteer committees, and facilitating visits with policymakers, among other responsibilities.
In his spare time, he enjoys reading, trying new restaurants with his friends, and being outdoors as much as possible. “I’m hoping to play tennis and hike on the weekends more before DC gets too sweltering,” he said.
Welcome, Tyler!
