Find Wellness Resources in the DLH

On National Stress Awareness Day, today, and in the aftermath of an election season filled with often divisive rhetoric, PAEA has posted some new resources in a recently created Election Wellbeing Channel in the PAEA Digital Learning Hub. We decided this was an essential need considering that one document notes that 60 percent of Americans consider the current political climate to be a “significant source of stress.”

These resources were developed by the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC), whose offices are next door to PAEA’s, and which belongs to the same interprofessional health professions organization, the Federation of Associations of Schools of the Health Professions (FASHP). AAVMC is leading an interprofessional FASHP group dedicated to gathering data and developing wellness resources for students and faculty in health professions education.

This work dovetails well with other PAEA initiatives related to the pandemic, and to the social and racial justice movements we have seen this year, including our online faculty forums and student town halls. PAEA will continue to focus efforts on providing opportunities for connection and supporting both faculty and students during these challenging times, as many are dealing not only with the stress of the pandemic but perhaps also with juggling multiple roles, working at home, taking care of children, and supporting students and colleagues.
