Webinar Looks at EDI Changes in Higher Education

PAEA will host a webinar, “EDI Restrictions in Higher Education: Survey of the Current Landscape” on April 16 from 3:30-5 p.m. ET. This session will be free for our members.

Since the beginning of 2023, institutions of higher education, including many with PA programs, have been significantly impacted by an array of new challenges related to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). In June 2023, the Supreme Court ruled against using race-conscious admissions policies in higher education. Some states have also recently enacted new restrictions on institutional spending and training requirements to promote EDI.

Within this context, the landscape for EDI work in our programs has shifted as we near one year since the initial Supreme Court ruling. Several states have enacted legislation that restricts some of the ways EDI work can be implemented in the hiring process. Other states have allowed EDI work to continue in order to meet accreditation standards.

To help members adapt to these evolving changes, PAEA provides regular updates to our Affirmative Action Decision and State EDI Restriction Resources page.

The EDI webinar will outline current legislation and policies that are impacting PA programs. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to discuss with colleagues how their programs are navigating the new landscape and meeting their EDI goals for their programs.
