Virtual Congressional Briefing: Building a Healthy Future: Why Federal Student Aid is Critical to Growing the Health Care Workforce
PAEA will host a virtual briefing on May 6 from 12-1 p.m., ET, for congressional staff and outside stakeholders focused on the critical role of federal student loan and loan repayment programs in expanding the health care workforce.
During this briefing, panelists will discuss the federal student aid and loan repayment options available to PA students, personal perspectives in how student aid has created pathways to the PA profession, and policy recommendations for future reauthorization efforts of the Higher Education Act.
Speakers will include:
- Nicole Burwell, PhD, MSHS, PA-C, President of PAEA and the Department Chair and Program Director of the North Carolina A&T State University PA program
- Frank Giannelli, PhD, PA-C, an Assistant Professor for the Rutgers University PA program and member of PAEA’s Government Relations Steering Committee
- Edward Williams, DMSc, M.Ed., PA-C, Department Chair and Program Director of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences PA program and Chair of PAEA’s Government Relations Steering Committee; and
- Phuc Gin, a student at the Rosalind Franklin University PA program and PAEA Student Health Policy Fellow.
