Support Former PAEA President Snyder in AAPA Special Election

PAEA is encouraging members to support former PAEA President Jennifer Snyder, PhD, PA-C, DFAAPA, who is a candidate for the open director at large seat on the AAPA Board of Directors in a special election that will run June 21–28. If you are an AAPA member, you should have received an email with voting instructions last week.

“Her service to our profession is clearly part of her ‘DNA.’ I am thrilled that one of our leaders wants to continue to lead at the national level,” said PAEA President Lisa Mustone Alexander, EdD, MPH, PA-C, in an email to all PAEA members on Monday, June 18.

Snyder was PAEA president in 2016 and served on the PAEA Board for five years, in addition to a number of other roles in the Association. She currently serves on the PAEA Presidents Commission. She is a professor and chair of the department of PA studies at Butler University in Indiana. She has also been active in state chapter and AAPA activities, having served as president of the Indiana Academy of PAs in 2001 and as a delegate and reference committee member in several AAPA House of Delegates meetings.

“The next few years will be critical as the PA profession tackles important issues like the implementation of optimal team practice, our professional title, and the continuing shortage of clinical sites and preceptors,” Alexander noted. “Having known and worked with Dr. Snyder for many years, I know she would be a compelling voice on the AAPA Board for a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to the issues that face our profession.”

You can read the CVs of both candidates, as well as their platform statements, responses to standard questions, and recorded interviews on the AAPA Meet the Candidates page.

The AAPA special election is being held to fill the director at large seat that will be vacated when David Mittman, who was elected president elect in the general AAPA election in May, takes up his new office on July 1.
