Promoting Smiles
Smiles for Life, a national oral health curriculum, is pleased to announce the offering of annual awards to support publication or presentation of research in a scholarly format. The Smiles for Life (SFL) curriculum was created in 2005 to address a lack of oral health curricula available for primary care and other non-dental health care providers. Health care professionals of all types have opted to use this curriculum to train learners and providers. With this new award, SFL hopes to encourage the formal evaluation of such trainings or data collection around clinical provider or student/trainee knowledge base or behavior change and promote presentation or publication of study findings in a scholarly forum.
The Smiles for Life Research Award is a $600 stipend to be used to support travel and accommodations to present SFL-related research results at an educational conference. Two $600 awards are being offered in 2019. Applicants can be from any learning institution at any education level or in a clinical setting and must have published or had their study accepted for publication or presentation at a conference using some aspect of SFL as the basis of their research. Applications will be accepted from graduate or post-graduate institutions or clinical entities of any health profession and in any professional format (poster, platform, publication) that has occurred or is planned any time during the 2019 calendar year.
The application deadline is August 31. Awardees will be notified by September 30, 2019.
