FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Physician Assistant Education Association Joins Interprofessional Education Collaborative

Washington, DC – Feb 23, 2016. The Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA), the national association representing accredited PA educational programs, is now a full institutional member of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC).

“Collaborative team-based health care provides the best outcomes for our patients, capitalizing on the unique strengths and perspectives of multiple health care professions,” said Timi Agar Barwick, MPM, CEO of PAEA. “The foundation for that interprofessional practice must be built through a rich and rigorous interprofessional education.”

PAEA President Jennifer Snyder, PhD, PA-C, added, “We’re proud to join our partners from the other health professions in advancing the work of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative. PA education is interprofessional to its core, and we look forward to sharing our experiences and expertise with other members of the group.”

Formally established in 2009, IPEC expanded its membership for the first time this year to welcome nine additional members. PAEA, a long-time contributor to and supporter of IPEC and its mission, unites with 14 other IPEC member organizations:
