PAEA Expands State Advocacy Efforts

PAEA is excited to announce the expansion of its state-level advocacy efforts. While continuing to lead on national issues impacting PA education, PAEA is expanding its strategic support to external stakeholders such as state PA chapters, health profession organizations, and others working to advance the profession and address program needs locally.

PAEA continues to advocate for policies that strengthen PA education and support the future of the healthcare workforce. At the federal level, PAEA prioritizes critical issues such as student financial assistance, clinical site access, and investments in Title VII health workforce programs. At the state level, PAEA will focus on advancing policies that directly impact program operations and clinical education. Key priorities include advocating for preceptor tax incentives to address the growing demand for high-quality clinical training sites and supporting the efforts of practice leaders to modernize laws so PA graduates can provide care to the full extent of their training.

As state policies increasingly shape educational standards and the healthcare workforce, PAEA is stepping in to provide additional tools, resources, and guidance to amplify the voices of over 300 member programs and support state advocates and external partners with their legislative or regulatory efforts.

How PAEA Can Help:

  • Letters of support for state legislation and program development
  • Policy guidance or technical assistance
  • Access to research data and reports to support evidence-based advocacy and policymaking
  • Advocacy tools, resources, and educational materials such as the advocacy curriculum
  • Strategic collaboration and partnership on shared goals and local initiatives that help advance PA education and the profession

State advocacy is essential to the future of PA education and the PA profession. PAEA invites educators, healthcare institutions, state chapters and advocacy partners to reach out with questions or opportunities for collaboration.
