PA Week Across the Country

From all of us at PAEA, we hope you had a wonderful PA Week! Some of our members shared with us what their programs and students did to celebrate, so we wanted to share them with you!

University of Nevada Reno Inaugural PA Class of 2020

The University of Nevada – Reno (UNR) PA students were invited onto the field during the UNR-Fresno football game on October 6 to congratulate and acknowledge both the new program and PA Day. The announcer added, “Your PA can handle it!” The President of the University Marc Johnson, PhD, and Medical School Dean Tom Schwenk, MD, also joined the students on the field.

PA students at James Madison University held a fundraiser and donated all profits to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Free Clinic. They also held blood pressure screenings at the local farmer’s market, and they delivered thank you notes and goodie bags to more than 60 local PAs!

University of Iowa PA Program

The University of Iowa PA program and the Carver College of Medicine celebrated PA Week with marathons, guest speakers, volunteering, and class photos. Students kicked off the week by completing the Twin Cities Marathon. All of the Carver College of Medicine learning communities celebrated PAs by discussing the profession and making cards for the Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Students heard from alumni about working as a PA and from a panel of University of Iowa physicians and PAs about the importance of the MD/PA team. Throughout the week, students volunteered at the Bird House Hospice Home, Ronald McDonald House, and the Iowa PA Society annual fall meeting. The week concluded with an all class, staff, and faculty photo of our PA1s and PA2s.
