PA Week Reflections

The creativity of PA program faculty and students never ceases to amaze us. From donuts to circular saws to dodgeball — 2015’s PA Week was a memorable one.

University of Alabama at Birmingham kicked off PA Week with students and faculty participating in a Habitat for Humanity build. Then the program hosted celebration lunches with each class, thanking them for choosing the PA profession, and held a White Coat Ceremony for its new 80-student class. To cap off the week, student teams participated in a dodge ball tournament, Dodging for Degrees, to raise money for scholarships for the School of Health Professions. See more photos on Facebook.

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine in North Chicago, Illinois, has three veterans in its first-year PA class, and in honor of PA Week, they decided to recreate the “Lifesavers then. . . Caregivers Now” statue found on the University of Utah’s campus. The students borrowed Vietnam War-era garb to make the statue re-creation as accurate as possible.
