PA Foundation Releases Podcast Episode on Postpartum Depression
Data indicate that between 50 and 75 percent of new mothers experience what is often referred to as the “baby blues” after giving birth. About 15 percent of those women will develop a more severe, and long-lasting, condition called postpartum depression (PPD).
In the newest episode of the PA Foundation’s Vital Minds podcast series, guest host Andrea Lowe, PA-C, and guest experts Kathleen Ehrhardt, MMS, PA-C, and Jacob Wills, PA-C, who bring both OBGYN and psychiatry expertise, explore the topic of PPD and the nuances of this complex issue. They dive into risk factors for PPD, treatment protocols, and the stigma often associated with this condition — and provide helpful resources and advice for PAs to implement in their practice.
Ehrhardt serves as assistant program director at DeSales University and is a PA at St. Luke’s Christmas City Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Wills practices in behavioral health with the Lehigh Valley Health Network.
