Oral Health Partner Organization Wins Award

The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education has recognized the National Interprofessional Initiative on Oral Health (NIIOH),  a PAEA partner, with the 2019 George E. Thibault Nexus Award, calling the group “a visionary cross-organizational, systems-level partnership that is moving the needle in interprofessional oral health integration across practice and education.” The award committee noted NIIOH’s strong leadership in transforming the way we work and think together about oral health education and practice.

Anita Glicken, NIIOH executive director, noted that “by putting the mouth back in the body, and integrating oral health into primary care, we are helping all providers, organizations, and communities recognize that they are an important part of the oral health solution.”

Ms. Glicken accepted the award on behalf of the NIIOH and its core partners, including Smiles for Life, a national oral health curriculum; the Oral Health Nursing Education and Practice Initiative; the PA Leadership Initiative in Oral Health; and many other partner organizations who are working together to ensure that all persons have access to oral health education and care to improve overall health and well-being.
