Nice to E-Meet You: New Faces in the PAEA Office
Our team here at PAEA just keeps growing. We’re excited to introduce you to four of our newest staff members. Welcome Mary Jo, Carol, Rachel, and Maureen!
Mary Jo Anderson, DM
Mary Jo is PAEA’s first-ever chief financial officer. In this role, she provides guidance and leadership to the Association’s membership, IT, accounting, communications, and human resources staff. She brings more than 20 years of professional experience providing leadership, developing strategic decision-making practices, and ensuring operational excellence within the financial services industry.
Prior to joining PAEA, Mary Jo worked at Northwest Federal Credit Union as the senior vice president of member experience, leading all member-facing employees and supporting operational staff. She also spent more than 14 years with Bank of America as a senior vice president, where she held various roles focused on customer experience and client referral processes. In addition, she led several sales and operational teams during her career there.
She holds a doctor of management degree from University of Maryland University College, a master of business administration from Wright State University, and a bachelor’s in accounting from West Virginia University. Mary Jo is also a graduate of the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking and a certified Myers-Briggs practitioner. She is also a Six Sigma Master Black Belt who has helped implement quality and business process improvement programs across several organizations.
Mary Jo has taught as an adjunct professor at University of Maryland University College, Coppin State University, and Frederick Community College. She is an avid reader who enjoys yoga and barre, the beach, volunteering in her community, and spending time with her family. She’s also the ultimate Baltimore O’s fan — for life!
Carol Goddard
Carol is a new program manager who will focus on planning, developing, and executing the Education Forum’s educational sessions. Prior to joining PAEA, Carol worked with the AAMC’s Continuing Education and Professional Development team, providing constituent communication and leadership support dedicated to physician and health care professional education and performance in practice. There, she helped create, plan, and deliver programs and resources focused on continuing medical education and continuing professional development.
Carol holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and administration from Earlham College and also completed a business management course at the Earlham Institute for Executive Growth. She is a member of the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education and serves on the Membership (past chair), Communications, and Program Planning Committees.
In her free time, she volunteers for the Greenbelt (Maryland) Labor Day Festival Committee, helping to plan the weekend-long event held each year, enjoys quilting and embroidery needlework, and is a big movie buff.
Rachel Kuliani, MPH, CHES
As a new program manager, Rachel will be focusing on handling the development and delivery of PAEA’s workshops, including the Spring workshops, Program Directors 101, and those preceding the PAEA Education Forum.
Rachel earned a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina and has been working in public health and health education-related project and program management for the past 10 years. Before joining PAEA, she worked for Duke Integrative Medicine managing the planning, development, logistics, and implementation of a variety of online and in-person public, professional, and custom/corporate programs.
When she’s not working, Rachel enjoys spending time with her friends and family, including watching her son play soccer and chasing her toddler daughter around on the sidelines. She also loves listening to music, singing, and curling up with a good novel.
Maureen Johnson
Maureen is our Professional and Organizational Development team’s new administrative associate. In this role, she provides broad administrative support to the team, with a focus on projects pertaining to diversity and inclusion, leadership, and Professional Services consulting.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in public health science from the University of Maryland, where she also participated in several community service projects and student leadership development programs. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, trying out new restaurants, and binge-watching old TV shows on Netflix.
