New Funding Opportunity to Support DATA Waiver Training

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has released a new funding opportunity for PA programs intended to promote the waiver training necessary to prescribe buprenorphine as opioid use disorder treatment.

The Provider’s Clinical Support System – Universities (PCSS-Universities) program aims to achieve several outcomes including: an increase in the number of individuals completing the training requirements for the DATA waiver, an increase in the number of individuals successfully obtaining a waiver, and an increase in the number of clinicians prescribing buprenorphine.

SAMHSA anticipates making 36 awards to grantees with a maximum award amount of $150,000 annually. Funded awards will be executed over 3 years with an anticipated project start date of September 30, 2021. Programs that successfully received a PCSS-Universities award in fiscal year 2019 are not eligible to reapply for this cycle.

Applications are due to SAMHSA by April 20. Additional information and the full funding opportunity announcement can be found here.
