The University of Texas Southwestern has established the P. Eugene Jones Professorship in Physician Assistant Studies, named for Gene Jones, PhD, PA-C, a PAEA past president and longtime chair of the UT Southwestern Department of PA Studies. Jones also served as editor in chief of the Journal of Physician Assistant Education for eight years and held numerous influential positions on PAEA volunteer groups over the course of his more than 25 years in PA education.

“This is a very well-deserved recognition for many years of service by an outstanding individual,” said Jon Williamson, PhD, dean of the UT Southwestern School of Health Professions.

The inaugural recipient of the Jones Professorship is Temple Howell-Stampley, MD, the current department chair/PA program director at UT Southwestern. PAEA congratulates Dr. Jones and Dr. Howell-Stampley on their outstanding achievements.
