Meet the 2018 Student Health Policy Fellows

Following the submission of a record number of applications, the fifth cohort of the Student Health Policy Fellowship (SHPF) has been selected. In September, these 14 students from PA programs across the country will travel to Washington, DC, to learn from experts in health policy, refine their advocacy skills, and meet with their elected representatives.

The SHPF is designed to enhance students’ understanding of political processes and health policy, as well as inspire grassroots advocacy and leadership to promote the PA profession as an integral part of the health care system.

After their DC experience, each fellow will return to their program and work with a faculty mentor and PAEA’s Government Relations team to implement a local advocacy project by September 2019. Previous Student Health Policy Fellows have hosted members of Congress at their programs, worked to pass resolutions in the AAPA House of Delegates, and presented on their advocacy experiences to new groups of students.

Congratulations to this year’s fellowship class!
