In Memoriam: Dr. Morton Diamond
It is with heavy hearts that PAEA announces the passing of Dr. Morton Arthur Diamond, FACC, FACP, medical director of the Nova Southeastern University Fort Lauderdale PA Program, on December 16.
“Dr. Diamond, a Vietnam Veteran, and Cardiologist, has been a mentor to thousands of students over several decades, my daughter included,” said Associate Dean & Physician Assistant Department Chair, William H. Marquardt, MA, PA-C Emeritus, DFAAPA. “He was also a mentor and friend to me and to the faculty with whom he worked. There was no finer teacher or human being. He will be missed.”
Hugh Rappa, MD, professor and associate program director, said, “He was more than a friend to me, we considered each other family.”
According to the PA History Society, Dr. Diamond is the recipient of many honors, including Outstanding PA Faculty Member of the Year. His published research includes neurogenic orthostatic hypotension, echocardiography, and valvular heart disease. Dr. Diamond also wrote and published a PA Exam Review book to facilitate the acquisition of medical knowledge for all PA students.
