HRSA Accepting Applications for National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has announced that it is now accepting applications for the 2024-25 cycle of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship program.
Since the program’s creation by Congress in the early 1970s, the NHSC has played a critical role in increasing access to care in health professional shortage areas (HPSAs) by providing financial aid to health professions students and graduates. The scholarship component of the program provides both payment of tuition and eligible fees as well as a monthly stipend to PA and other health professions students in exchange for a minimum practice commitment of two years in a designated HPSA. Currently, more than 850 PA students nationwide receive scholarship support through the NHSC.
PA students enrolled in a program with classes beginning on or before September 30 are eligible to apply for the 2024-25 cycle. Applications for the program are due to HRSA by April 25, and additional guidance can be found on HRSA’s website. Members and students with questions are invited to contact Tyler Smith at tsmith@PAEAonline.org.
