Grant Alert: Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has released a Notice of Funding Opportunity for a grant competition under the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program.

The purpose of the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement program is “to improve health outcomes for older adults by developing a healthcare workforce that maximizes patient and family engagement, and by integrating geriatrics and primary care.”

HRSA anticipates awarding $35,730,000 annually to fund up to 47 cooperative agreements, with a $750,000 maximum annual award from 2019–2024.

In addition to PA programs, eligible lead applicants for this opportunity include health administration graduate programs, behavioral health and mental health practice graduate programs, health care facilities, and certified nurse assistant programs, as well as schools of:

  • Allopathic medicine
  • Veterinary medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Public health
  • Osteopathic medicine
  • Chiropractic
  • Pharmacy
  • Optometry
  • Allied health
  • Podiatric medicine
  • Nursing
