APTR Seeks Population Health Case Studies

The Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are seeking faculty proposals to create educational case studies on population health for public health and clinical health professions students. The creators of the selected proposal will receive up to $50,000 to develop their case study.

The case studies should include:

• Three one-hour problem-solving exercises that, combined, address:
  • Three identified CDC/HHS initiatives: the Health Impact in 5 Years (HI-5), Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) initiative; and the Million Hearts®
  • At least five Regional Medicine-Public Health Education Centers Population Health Competencies.
  • Leadership and change management strategies.
• A reflection exercise that draws parallels between the three CDC/HHS initiatives and how the learner can apply the information to lead change in clinical or public health practice.
• Patient, client, and population perspective(s), as relevant.
• Visual tools such as slide sets, videos, photos, graphs, or charts (with copyright rights), as applicable.
• A detailed learner assessment instrument/quiz with scoring rubric.
• A Facilitator Guide describing how the case studies can be integrated into existing coursework or curriculum, including an explanation of relevant issues, topics for further discussion, and recommended resources and readings.
