Awards Season Is Upon Us
On Friday during the Education Forum, the PA education profession will once again come together to celebrate the accomplishments of PAEA’s 2015 award recipients during the Awards Luncheon.
Though that November day may seem a long way off, PAEA is now accepting award nominations.
New Awards
In addition to the nine current awards, the Awards Committee has added two additional categories: the Administrative Support Staff Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Administrative Support Staff Award will recognize a program administrative support person who has made extraordinary contributions to PA education.
Awards Committee Chair Elias Villarreal, Jr., MPAS, PA-C, said the category was added because “the committee recognizes that there are others behind-the-scenes in PA education who deserve accolades.”
The new Lifetime Achievement Award will honor an individual who has reached the pinnacle of their career in PA education. Though a similar award — the Presidential Award — has been presented twice before at the president’s discretion, this award will now be decided upon by the Awards Committee in the same formalized process as the other 10 categories. As the field has matured and the awards program has grown, this change will help elevate, standardize, and recognize sustained achievement.
The Lifetime Achievement Award will likely be given only occasionally, as it recognizes a current or former program faculty member who has made extraordinary contributions to PA education over a sustained period of time. The winner will receive a lifetime membership to PAEA, lifetime admission to the Forum, and free travel and accommodation to attend the Awards Luncheon where they will receive the award.
All 11 award winners receive $500 each, a free Forum registration, and a crystal plaque.
New Submission Process
Member program faculty, staff, and administration are encouraged to submit nominations via an online form; hard copy letters will no longer be accepted. The deadline for nominations is July 1st.
