Senate Finance Committee Maternal Health RFI

Summary: On March 19, 2020, PAEA submitted a response to a Request for Information issued by the leadership of the Senate Finance Committee regarding evidence-based solutions to high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality. In response to the inquiry, PAEA urged the committee to consider replicating the previously enacted Graduate Nurse Education demonstration to finance clinical training in women’s health for PA students and examine the possibility of integrating clinical training opportunities into future alternative payment models. PAEA also urged the committee to prioritize diversifying the maternal health workforce through support for health professions programs as included in S.3424, the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act.
