FY2021 Appropriations Recommendations (House)

Summary: On March 23, 2020, PAEA submitted testimony to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies focusing on the impact of Title VII health workforce programs on the ability of PA education to respond to emerging health crises such as COVID-19 and maternal mortality.

To most effectively prepare a well-trained, diverse workforce, PAEA requested $790 million for Title VII health workforce and Title VIII nursing workforce programs, in alignment with the recommendation of the Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition, which would support:

• Primary Care Training and Enhancement grants
• Area Health Education Centers
• The Mental and Substance Use Disorders Workforce Training Demonstration
• The Rural Maternal and Obstetric Care Training Demonstration
• Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students
• The Health Careers Opportunity Program
