FY19 Appropriations

Summary: On July 18, 2018, PAEA and the Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition (HPNEC) submitted a letter to the House and Senate appropriations committees articulating HPNEC’s funding priorities for FY2019. Among these priorities were:

• The continuation of funding to support the Health Career Opportunity Program
• Restoration of budget cuts for Advanced Education Nursing and Mental and Behavioral Health programs in the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill
• House adoption of Senate funding levels for Area Health Education Centers
• A total of $690 million appropriated to the Health Resources and Services Administration Title VII health professions and Title VIII nursing workforce development programs
