PAEA Board of Directors: 2027 Call for Nominations

We invite dedicated members who are passionate about shaping the future of PA education to consider running for the 2027 PAEA Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to serve the profession at the highest level, with four open positions: President Elect, Secretary, and two Directors at Large. 

PAEA’s mission is advancing excellence in PA education through leadership, scholarship, equity, and inclusion. The Board is responsible for determining the strategies that help PAEA enact the mission and purpose of the organization in real-time. Additionally, the Board oversees strategic and organizational planning, ensures strong fiduciary oversight and financial management, approves resource development, monitors PAEA’s programs and services, evaluates the performance of the CEO, enhances PAEA’s public image, and assesses its own performance as the governing body of PAEA. 

As a member of the Board of Directors, you will have the opportunity to help the Association chart its course in a changing world by bringing your insight and experience to bear on the major issues in PA education and the profession. 

There are three positions currently open for terms beginning January 1, 2027. Nominations are being accepted through June 2, 2026, for the following positions:  

Open Positions

The President Elect term is three years (one year as President Elect, one year as President, and one year as Past President).

Eligibility requirements for this position include:

  • Must be a faculty /staff at PAEA member institution
  • Must be a PA
  • Must be a current/past PAEA Board of Directors Member

The President Elect can also expect to have additional responsibilities such as, but not limited to:   

    • Serve as a member of the Executive Committee

    • Serve as chair of the Governance Committee

    • Attend the Finance Steering Committee’s meeting to join review and discussion of the annual budget

    • Attend a President/CEO planning meeting to plan for following year

    • Represent PAEA in various capacities as assigned by President

The Secretary term is for three years.  

Eligibility requirements for this role include: 

  • Must be a faculty /staff at PAEA member institution 

Prior service on the PAEA Board is strongly encouraged for this role, and may be prioritized in the nomination process, in order to ensure familiarity with the organization’s governance, culture, and strategic priorities.

The Secretary can also expect to have additional responsibilities such as, but not limited to: 

    • Serve as a member of the Executive Committee
    • Serve as a member of one of the Board Committees
    • Represent PAEA in various capacities as assigned by President

 

The Director At Large term is for three years.  

Eligibility requirements for this role include: 

  • Must be a faculty /staff at PAEA member institution 

In addition to the required eligibility criteria, the nominating committee will review applications and consider a preference for prior experience as a PAEA committee chair. 

The Director at Large can also expect to have additional responsibilities such as, but not limited to: 

    • Serve as a member of one or more Board Committees

    • Represent PAEA in various capacities as assigned by President

Board Service Responsibilities and Requirements  

Serving on the PAEA Board of Directors requires a meaningful time commitment, and candidates should ensure they have institutional support to allocate the time, travel, and flexibility needed for engagement. Board members are expected to review materials in advance of meetings, participate in ad hoc discussions, and be responsive in communication. This requires daily monitoring and weekly correspondence.  

Board candidates must be able to participate in four in-person board meetings per year. The dates for the 2027 Board meetings are below: 

  • February 1-5, 2027 
  • May 3-7, 2027
  • July 26-30, 2027 OR August 2-6, 2027
  • October 12-18 2027 
    • Board meeting & Education Forum
    • The board is required to attend the Education Forum
  • *Please note that the exact dates have not been confirmed. However, the list above provides confirmed windows of time in which the board meetings will be held.

Board candidates are also expected to attend at least four virtual meetings per year, which are scheduled in between in-person meetings.

Call for Nominations and Election Timeline

  • Board nominations open from May 4 – June 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET 
  • Eligibility notifications sent to candidates by June 10 
  • The Board Nominating Committee will conduct candidate interviews June 22 – 26
  • The final candidate slate will be announced on August 10 
  • Additional candidate engagement opportunities will be announced this summer. 
  • Member voting: September TBD
  • Election results will be announced during the PAEA Annual Meeting on September TBD and published in the September TBD edition of the Networker
