We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valleyâs student body as an open rank (Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, Clinical Professor) with the Department of Physician Assistant beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide student instruction and teach courses (didactic and/or clinical) as assigned by the Program Director.
· Supervise students in didactic and/or clinical courses and activities.
· Assist with admission (e.g. application review, selection, and interviews).
· Assist in developing and coordinating course design and implementation within the didactic and/or clinical curriculum.
· Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of student performance.
· Provide academic counseling and advising of students.
· Participate in service to the department, college, University, and community.
· Perform other program and department level duties, as assigned.
· Assist in the evaluation process of the curriculum and the program.
· Assist in the development, review, and revisions (as necessary) the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program.
· Assuring the availability of remedial instruction for students.
Qualifications:
Clinical Assistant Rank
1. Minimum of a masterâs degree in physician assistant studies, health related field, or medical degree.
2. Applicants must have a doctorate and/or a masterâs degree from an accredited institution.
3. Physician Assistant applicants must be NCCPA certified.
4. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience.
Clinical Associate Rank
1. Minimum of a masterâs degree in physician assistant studies, health related field, or medical degree.
2. Applicants must have a doctorate and/or a masterâs degree from an accredited institution.
3. Physician Assistant applicants must be NCCPA certified.
4. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience.
5. Have a minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience at the Assistant Professor Rank.
Clinical Professor Rank
1. Minimum of a masterâs degree in physician assistant studies, health related field, or medical degree.
2. Applicants must have a doctorate and/or a masterâs degree from an accredited institution.
3. Physician Assistant applicants must be NCCPA certified.
4. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience.
5. Have a minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience at the Associate Professor Rank.
