PAEA and the Association on Higher Education And Disability (AHEAD) will co-host a webinar on June 26 at 2 pm. ET that will share information and resources to help programs comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)/Section 504 laws and regulations.
Join PAEA’s EDI Team and Elisa Laird, JD, the Deputy CEO of AHEAD for “Ensuring Inclusive and Accessible PA Education” to learn:
- An overview of disability laws
- Advice on implementing accommodations
- Emerging issues in the legislative and regulatory spheres
The ADA is a federal law that protects people with disabilities from discrimination.
Section 504 prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability or a failure to provide students with disabilities the same opportunity to benefit from educational programs, services, or activities as provided to their nondisabled peers.
Following ADA guidance protects your program but also provides a welcoming environment for students and faculty who need accommodations, while raising accessibility awareness your students will bring to their practice.
PAEA is excited to partner with AHEAD in furtherance of our respective missions, to share and exchange resources and information, including information about how schools may comply with ADA/Section 504 laws and regulations. AHEAD has more than 5,800 members, representing all 50 states and more than 10 countries.
Laird is a consultant, speaker, and collaborator focused on creating more usable and inclusive learning environments for students with disabilities, with a specialty in health science and medical education.
