In an effort to better understand how programs use visa and citizenship information during the application process and beyond, PAEA will hold a listening session for admissions directors/coordinators and PAEA staff. Through this discussion, we hope to:
- Determine how visa and citizenship is being used and how vital it is to the admission process
- Understand specifics around how this information is used beyond admissions (e.g., in determining program eligibility, financial aid, clinical site placement, external grant funding, etc.)
We hope you can join us for this important discussion.
Background
Earlier this year, PAEA received feedback that the visa and citizenship definitions used in CASPA were inaccurate, which had the potential to cause confusion among applicants. In August, after consultation with an expert in U.S. immigration law, PAEA updated the visa and citizenship definitions used in CASPA to more accurately match the official definitions used by the U.S. government.
While the change in citizenship definitions impacts 3% of potential applicants, it is important to PAEA to ensure all applicants are able to use the correct definitions when determining their citizenship category.
