This is the fifth session of our Scholarship Coffee Talk webinar series. Grant writing can be challenging for both new and experienced researchers. While a project idea may seem feasible in theory, the written proposal can often fall short due to common but avoidable mistakes. This session will highlight frequent pitfalls in grant writing such as unclear objectives, unrealistic timelines, and budget misalignment and provide practical strategies to help researchers strengthen their proposals and increase their chances of funding success.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss common mistakes in grant writing
  • Explain importance of having the methodology worked out before submitting
  • Review importance of having adequate faculty to assist with grants

This Coffee Talk webinar series on scholarship will introduce members to grant and manuscript submissions in small, manageable segments, designed to help you take the first steps in building your scholarly portfolio. Each session will be informal and interactive, providing a welcoming space for participants to ask questions and engage in discussion.

Speaker: Chris Gillette, PhD, Professor, Wake Forest University
