New Roles
Scott Black, MD, has taken on the role of program director at the University of Kentucky PA program in Lexington. Black most recently served as the medical director for University of Kentucky Employee Health Services.
Sarah Deyo, MMS, PA-C, is the newly appointed program director of the PA program at Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her previous role there was as assistant professor. She has a clinical background in pediatrics.
Matthew Kozicki, MD, was recently appointed medical director for the PA program at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He was previously a preceptor for students of the program as well as for students from The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton.
Scott Massey, PhD, PA-C, is the new program director at the Slippery Rock University PA program in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. He previously served as the founding program director at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pennsylvania. Massey served as a director at large on PAEA’s Board of Directors between 2013 and 2015. The Slippery Rock program anticipates matriculating its first class in May 2016, pending achieving accreditation-provisional status next month.
Running for Office
Wilton Kennedy, DHS, PA-C, the director of clinical education at the Jefferson College of Health Sciences PA program in Roanoke, Virginia, is running for the Democratic nomination for Roanoke City Council. Read more.
Retiring
In 1990, Pat Bunton, MS, PA-C, joined the faculty of the Wichita State University PA department where she currently serves as director of didactic education. She has trained more than 1,000 PA students on how to properly take a history, perform a physical exam, and document findings. In fact, Bunton taught five of the program’s six current PA faculty members.
For the past 12 years, Bunton has led teams to an underserved county of Kansas to provide free sports physicals to middle school and high school students, and for the last 5 years, she has served on the Kansas Academy of Physician Assistants.
Bunton recently obtained her real estate license and plans to sell houses after her retirement this May.
