Bowlin, Gunter Join PAEA Staff
PAEA is happy to announce the two newest members of our team, Stephanie Bowlin, EdD, PA, and Amanda Gunter, MS. Stephanie has joined PAEA’s Professional Services group as our fourth principal advisor, and Amanda is joining our Professional and Organizational Development team as an instructional specialist.
Stephanie Bowlin comes to us from Western University of Health Sciences (WUHS), where she was the deputy chief of operations under the auspices of the provost’s office and dean of the College of Allied Health Professions, which includes the Departments of Health Sciences, Physician Assistant Education, and Physical Therapy Education.
A graduate of the Charles R. Drew University PA program, Stephanie also earned a master’s degree in health professions education from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from the University of La Verne. As a PA, her specialty was pediatrics, and her research interests include educational leadership, outcomes assessment, and program review.
She serves on various editorial boards and as an assistant team chair/site visitor for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WSCUC). Previously she was director of the Western University of Health Sciences PA Program, chair of the AAPA Education Council, education chair of the California Academy of PAs, and as chair and commissioner of ARC-PA.
In her new role, Stephanie will consult with PA programs who request assistance preparing for accreditation.
Amanda Gunter began her career as a general education teacher working with students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in high-risk schools in North Carolina’s public school system. While teaching, Amanda received her master’s degree in Instructional Technology. After almost six years in public education, she transitioned into higher education, specifically medical education at Duke University.
In her five years at Duke as an educational technology specialist, Amanda worked with faculty at both the doctor of physical therapy and physician assistant programs, primarily in the areas of instructional design and technology.
Amanda, who will officially join PAEA in early November, will work on educational programming and help to develop PAEA’s online portfolio of educational resources.
