PACKRAT® Version 25 Available Soon

The newest version of the PACKRAT exam will be available to start administrations on November 18. This updated version ensures that students can assess their knowledge on the most up-to-date standards and medications. No blueprint or topic list changes were made. This will be the primary version of the exam that your students take.

There are no national statistics currently available for this exam since the exam is written from scratch each year. Once the new version has been taken 300 times, typically reached within 60 days of the exam’s launch, PAEA will add national average scores and standard deviations to all performance reports. These will be updated weekly as more students take the exam.

PACKRAT is an objective, comprehensive self-assessment tool for student and curricular evaluation. It consists of 225 multiple-choice questions that cover the core clinical areas and can be administered in a proctored or unproctored environment. Each exam version is extensively peer-reviewed to ensure it is rigorous and appropriate for PA students.

A faculty guide will be published to supplement the exam. This guide will provide context to the PACKRAT exam’s development, content, and objectives. This will include how its blueprint, guiding principles, content area list, exam items, and core tasks and objectives were created, and the scientific review that occurred upon completion.

All PACKRAT administrations scheduled to be taken on or after November 18, 2020, will be transitioned to the new version. Version 24 will remain available as a back-up for retesting purposes, but version 23 will no longer be available.
