Logan University invites applications for a Principal Faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Master of Medical Science, Physician Assistant (PA) Program. These are 12‑month faculty appointments, with rank and responsibilities commensurate with experience. Opportunities for additional program-specific or leadership duties may be available based on qualifications and prior academic or administrative experience.

Responsibilities

Principal Faculty report to the Program Director and are responsible for the development, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the PA curriculum. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Teaching & Student Support

  • Serve as course instructor for assigned didactic and/or clinical courses.
  • Deliver instruction through lectures, small-group facilitation, skills laboratories, and simulation activities.
  • Evaluate student performance, including exams, skills assessments, and competency-based evaluations.
  • Provide academic advising, mentoring, and remediation for didactic and clinical year students.
  • Collaborate with didactic and clinical faculty to ensure achievement of learning outcomes and program competencies.

Curriculum & Program Administration

  • Participate in the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of an integrated PA curriculum.
  • Support curriculum mapping and ensure horizontal and vertical integration of learning objectives.
  • Contribute to syllabus development and curricular revisions in collaboration with program leadership.
  • Participate in student admissions, applicant interviews, and selection processes.
  • Assist with continuous quality improvement initiatives at the course and program levels.
  • Support ARC‑PA accreditation activities, including documentation, self-study, and site visits.

Scholarship & Service

  • Engage in scholarly activity appropriate to faculty rank.
  • Contribute to educational research, program evaluation, or interprofessional scholarship.
  • Serve on PA program and university committees (e.g., curriculum, assessment, admissions, student progress).
  • Participate in professional development and activities that promote PA education and the profession.

Qualifications Required

  • Current PA certification (or licensure in a related healthcare profession, as appropriate).
  • Eligibility for state licensure.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant or relevant healthcare provider.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and collaborate effectively in an academic setting.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience in PA education.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, support, and lead diverse groups of learners and colleagues.
  • Expertise in pedagogy, student learning, and assessment, including competency-based or outcomes-driven education.
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively with faculty, administrators, students, and staff within a higher education learning community.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, or academic leadership.
  • Evidence of qualifications appropriate for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank, including scholarship and service.
  • Doctoral degree in PA studies, health sciences, medical education, or a related field.

About the Logan University PA Program

The Logan University Physician Assistant Program is a graduate-level program leading to the Master of Medical Science, Physician Assistant (MMS‑PA) degree. The program’s mission is to educate students to become caring, competent, and culturally responsive PAs who practice evidence-based medicine, demonstrate effective leadership, and embrace a whole health, patient-centered approach to care.

The program enrolls 40 students per cohort in a 24‑month curriculum integrating didactic and clinical education with an emphasis on:
