Director of Clinical Education

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Berry College invites applications for a Director of Clinical Education (DCE) for its Physician Associate ProgramThis is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and energetic clinically-oriented candidate. The DCE will perform tasks as a principal faculty member as well as work alongside the Program Director and/or Medical Director to develop policies and curriculum related to the clinical phase of the program, ensure ARC-PA compliance, recruit and retain clinical preceptors, provide faculty development to the clinical preceptors, perform ongoing site monitoring at each Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) site and other duties as assigned by the Program Director. The DCE will serve on program committees.

Berry College has initiated the provisional accreditation process with the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) and has dedicated adequate resources to building a high-quality program with excellent faculty and facilities. Along with the requisite didactic and clinical instruction of any accredited PA program, Berry aspires to offer distinctive features that broaden the impact our graduates have on local communities once in practice.

To support the PA program, the College will construct a new health-sciences building with offices and shared classrooms, a laboratory, and a simulation space. The building will also house Berry's Nursing program and is being designed with future growth in mind.

Our vision is to build a high-quality program firmly anchored in the Berry ethos of "not to be ministered unto but to minister." The program at Berry will be geared toward educating PAs with a heart for their patients, including those from medically underserved areas. Along with the requisite didactic and clinical instruction, Berry aspires to offer distinctive features that broaden the impact our graduates have on local communities once in practice. The target date to matriculate for the first class is Fall 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A 12-month full-time position with academic and administrative responsibilities in support of the program.

Strong communication skills -- written and verbal.

Relational intelligence in developing strong collaborative relationships with local and regional services, communities, health centers/facilities, and medical practices.

Proactive problem solver.

The Director of Clinical Education reports to the Program Director. Academic responsibilities of this position include supporting the Program Director in the following tasks:

• Curriculum development, assessment/mapping, and revision
• Classroom and laboratory instruction
• Academic and professionalism advising
• Remedial instruction
• Student recruitment and retention
• Admissions
• Inter-professional education
• Instructional faculty and clinical site recruitment and retention
• Assessment development
• Ongoing program self-assessment
• Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant Program with a minimum of a master's degree
• Current or Emeritus NCCPA Certification
• Unrestricted PA License in any state and eligible in Georgia
• Prior experience in PA education
• Minimum of 3 years as a practicing PA with clinical experience

PREFERENCES:

• Knowledge of program organization, administration, program review and analysis, planning, development, ARC-PA Standards, policies, and processes.
• Experience as a PA Program-Director of Clinical Education or Clinical Coordinator.
• Doctoral degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
