The Department of Medical Sciences is recruiting an Open Rank Clinical Professor in the Physician Assistant Program. The Open Rank Clinical Professor is responsible for instruction of the didactic component of the Physician Assistant Program curriculum, ensuring the high educational and medical quality of the didactic curriculum, program organization and administration, and student education and mentoring. The Open Rank Clinical Professor will also assist in maintaining accreditation standards and participating in any activities necessary to maintain Northeastern at the forefront of PA education. The position is a 52-week, 1.0 FTE, non-tenure track faculty position.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include teaching graduate courses, conducting research, and participating in program, departmental, school, college, and university service. Qualified candidates should demonstrate expertise in, or a demonstrated commitment to, working with diverse student populations and/or in a culturally diverse work and educational environment.

  • Participate in the didactic and clinical component of the curriculum which includes program planning, implementation, and assessment
  • Serve on the admissions committee
  • Coordinate and teach courses based on areas of content and clinical expertise
  • Facilitate small group discussion sessions; participate in simulation and physical diagnosis and skills labs
  • Advise and mentor students; participate in all aspects of recruitment, retention, and academic progression
  • Provide continuous development, maintenance, and evaluation of courses
  • Develop criteria and procedures for didactic and clinical courses consistent with ARC-PA Standards
  • Participate in curriculum development
  • Perform site visits to PA students during clinical rotations
  • Monitor, evaluate, and document the academic performance of students to ensure that they successfully achieve the criteria for successful completion of the didactic and clinical courses
  • Review and analyze student evaluations from part-time faculty/preceptors/clinical instructors and assist in the determination of the final grade for courses with separately taught subject areas
  • Develop and implement academic intervention and remediation plans for students as needed
  • Participate in ongoing program review and the continuous self-study process
  • Perform additional assignments at the direction of the Department Chair and Program Director of the Physician Assistant Program
